+ABOUT

I am a qualitative researcher working at the intersection of emerging technologies and complex systems design. My research combines Human-Computer Interaction and Science & Technology Studies to understand how emerging technologies perpetuate systemic harm and how marginalized communities creatively leverage technology to build decentralized networks. I have a diverse background working in the tech industry, academic institutions, and civil society organizations. My work has been featured in journals like CSCW, ICWSM, and venues like Tech Policy Press and Columbia University’s Logic(s).

I graduated with honors from Brown University in International Development Studies and a focus in Digital Media Studies. I am also a competitive athlete who represented Palestine in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in track & field. I am currently based in San Francisco, CA.

I am a Palestinian-American researcher, runner, speaker, artist, sister, and daughter.

I am passionate about highlighting the histories of ‘new’ technologies and embedded socio-technical assumptions.

My approach is participatory, collaborative, and co-constructed

I recognize that our experiences profoundly shape our worldviews, and I hold an awareness of my own subjectivity and biases.

I view the world through a decolonial lens.
